If the machining environment (workpiece shape, machine, etc.) is sufficiently rigid, consider counterboring machining from a state where there is no Pilot hole . This is because chips are easier to separate and better processed without Pilot hole .
If there is a Pilot hole , connected chips may form and become entangled in the tool.
Please note that there are some counterboring tools that are recommended by default with Pilot hole . (VP-ZDS, PZAG), etc.
