What is a PS thread?
It is a thread commonly called a parallel screw for JIS (English type) pipes, and it is a parallel thread for tight coupling of the old JIS standard. (JIS B 0203)
・Female threads are referred to as PS.
・For the internal thread of the PS, the male screw that fits together is PT (taper).
・Thread angle is 55 degrees
・The name is expressed in inches, and the pitch is expressed in the number of mountains between 25.4mm. (e.g. PS1/2-14, PS3/8-19)
・PS Male threads deviated from the JIS standard in the 1960s.

Thread Machining Tools & Thread Gauges
・Thread processing tools (taps and thread mills) can be shared with the current JIS parallel screw Rp (parallel internal thread) for pipes.
・For inspection of PS female screws, use PT thread gauges according to the shape of the threads that fit together.
If the internal thread that fits into the PS female thread is a PS male thread, use the PS limit screw plug gauge that matches the shape of the external thread to inspect the PS female thread.
・The gauge cannot be shared with the current JIS parallel screw Rp for pipes because the thread standard tolerance is different.
