What is rotational speed?

Rotational speed means how many revolutions the tool makes in one minute.

In the machining program that moves the machine tool, it is expressed by "S". In calculations, "n" may also be used. The unit is (min⁻¹). Example: S2000 → 2000 revolutions in 1 minute

The expression of the speed of rotation is different from the rotational speed (S) and is called the cutting speed (Vc). Cutting speed (Vc) is a unit of how many meters the circumference of a tool moves in one minute.

The rotational speed (S) and the cutting speed (Vc) can be converted to each other.
