What is flute length ?
flute length is the length from the tip of the drill to the end of the groove.
The drill must have space to drain the chips that arise during machining.
Make sure you have enough flute length of the drill to be used for the depth of the hole to be machined.

Drilling regrinding shortens the flute length . It is recommended to check whether the drill used is suitable for machining after each drill change.
The flute length of drills required for the depth of the hole to be machined
Required flute length ≈ Hole Depth + (DC×1.5) (DC=Drill Diameter)
Drillable depth
Drillable depth ≈ flute length -1.5×Dc (Dc = diameter of drill)
(A) flute length (B) Drillable depth (C)1.5×Dc (space to discharge chips) (D) Drill diameter
[Example] (A) flute length 90mm, (D) drill diameter φ10 (B) The depth at which holes can be drilled is as follows: 90-(10×1.5)=75mm. |

If there is no (C), Chip discharge is not possible |
