Do you need drilling centering?
Centering is used to improve hole position accuracy and to reduce unstable behavior during hole entrance machining.
Unless the hole position accuracy is strictly required, or the machining of slopes or spherical surfaces, centering is not always necessary.
If this is not the case, the use of a high-rigidity drill with thinning or a thicker shank may reduce the centering process.
Reference: Think about centering
Why centering? ⇒ To achieve positional accuracy (1) Is there a specification of position accuracy? (2) Is it easy to misalign ⇒ slopes, uneven surfaces, spherical surfaces (3) hole entrance It also serves as a chamfer |
