In forming tap processing, burrs form on the hole entrance , resulting in a raised shape.
In order to suppress the burr of the hole entrance , it is effective to perform a chamfer of 60~70° (full-width) in advance on the pilot hole of the forming tap .
hole entrance End face, without chamfering |
A: Pilot hole diameter B: Bali |
hole entrance End face, chamfered case |
A: Pilot hole diameter B: Outer diameter of screw |
* In the catalog notation, there are two ways to express the angle: full-width and tapered half-width.
point angle 90°: Full-width
Taper half-width 45°: Half-width
In both cases, the angle of the chamfer is the same aim.
If you are aiming for a forming tap pilot chamfering angle of 60~70°, select a chamfering tool with a point angle of 60°.
