There are various methods and applications, but they are mainly intended for curing steel products.
After heating to the appropriate temperature by heat treatment, it is cooled (tempered) in an appropriate way.
Examples include carburizing and quenching, in which steel products are hardened to the inside, and induction quenching, in which only the surface is hardened.
