In gauge inspection, the accuracy of the drawing indication cannot be substituted for gauges of other precision.
This is true even if the gauge to be substituted is within the specified tolerance of accuracy.
As a rule for using gauges, the accuracy of the thread gauge must be consistent with the drawing instructions.
Only one accuracy can be proven to pass with that gauge. It is not possible to prove multiple precision.
In addition, due to the difference in tolerances, there is a possibility of unnecessarily defective products.
Example of inquiry
If the drawing says that the thread accuracy is grade 3, shouldn't it be possible to pass using a grade 2 gauge, which is a tighter tolerance?
Answer: No, no.
Only the grade 3 thread limit gauge can be inspected for the screw accuracy of the drawing instructions. Limit gauges for grade 2 screws cannot be used.
