A standard thread gauge is a gauge that has been correctly made to the reference angle and dimensions of the thread.

Accuracy cannot be guaranteed, as in the case of the limit gauge , which confirms that it is within the tolerance range by stopping gauge and determines that it is passing.
Since there is no stopping gauge for pass/fail judgment with standard screw gauge , a limit gauge is generally used.
