When machining tapered threads for pipes with a thread mill, can the tools be shared with external thread internal threads?
For pipe screws of the same type, both external thread and female threads can be shared as long as they are tapered.
Combinations (1)
Pipe tapered external thread (R/PT) and pipe tapered female thread (Rc/PT) can be shared
However, there is a different combination of tapered threads for pipes for tight coupling.
Combinations (2)
Pipe taper external thread (R/PT) and pipe parallel internal thread (Rp/PS) cannot be shared
Please note that in the drawing instructions, if the shape of the external thread internal thread is different, as in combination (2), the tool cannot be shared.

In addition, if both the external thread and internal threads are parallel to each other with the same type of pipe screw, the tool can be shared.

Parallel external thread for pipes (G・PF) and parallel internal threads for pipes (G・PF) can be shared
Please note that thread mills for parallel screws such as metric screws and unified screws cannot be shared with external thread and female threads.
